Here's how I do my 10 min mani/pedi:
1. Buff and file my nails to desired length and shape. The buffing helps oh so much in the adherence of the polish!
2. Clean all my nails with pure acetone
3. Apply a coat of nail primer, then the polish and I finish off with a top coat.
Sounds easy enough right? Although it does, some of these steps are most of the time forgotten and lead to a crappy polish job.
Importance of steps:
Priming is crucial during a polish change. It takes all the oils off the nail bed before polishing creating a smooth canvas. Most good quality Base Coats contain protein, aloe vera, vitamin e and/or calcium. These awesome nutrients replenish brittle, dry nails with moisture, prevents breakage, splitting and peeling. Who doesn't love that extra bonus? A Base Coat should dry matte or dull with a tacky finish. Please don't get confused a apply a top coat first. Top coats should dry shiny and smooth and they dry much slower than a base coat.
* Awesome tips! Store your nail polish in the refrigerator. It will last longer and be easier to apply. And do NOT shake your nail polish before application or ever in that case, you make it easier for air pockets to form inside the bottle and more likely to ruin your polish. Instead, roll around your hands until warm! And Voila!
